2016 BUDGET: SENATE ALLOCATES N10B TO IDPs IN NORTH EAST



-           Senate yesterday mandated its Committee on Appropriation t allocateN10 billion under service wide vote, for relocation and settlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) returning to Borno and Adamawa States.

-          Senate also directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Refugees Commission to arrange for repatriation and resettlement of Nigerian refugees in Cameroun, Niger and Chad.
-          The Red Chamber also tasked the Committee to include IDS in Taraba, Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa states as beneficiaries in the allocated amount.
-          The decision by the Senate followed a motion titled: “Interim financial and material support/assistance to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, returnees in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.”
