ALLEGED FRAUD: FG DIRECTS EFCC TO PROBE KASHAMU’S FIRM



-           The Federal Government (FG) has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately investigate the activities of Kasmal International Services Limited, a firm belonging to Senator Buruji Kashamu.

-          According to the directive, EFCC should, within the next three weeks, probe the alleged involvement of the firm in the stamp duty fraud.
-          In a statement issued by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), EFCC was directed to investigate “the purported consultancy agreement” the Nigeria Postal Service entered with Kasmal International Services Limited for the collection of stamp duty from banks and other financial institutions in the Country.
-          Allegedly, the firm unilaterally waived all arrears of remittances owed the FG by banks and financial institutions from 2004 till the commencement of a circular issued on January 15, 2015.
