CONSTITUTION RESTRUCTURING WILL REVIVE NIGERIA’S ECONOMY- HURILAWS

-          Human Rights Law Service (HURILAWS) has enumerated the crucial issues of Nigeria’s constitution, worth being considered to revive the nation’s economy.

-          The major issue according to HURILAWS is restructuring the political arrangement to strengthen the states and local governments through the devolution of more powers and funding.
-          Progremmes Officer of HURILAWS, Mr. Collins Okekespoke in Lagos that the major cause of political and economic tension in the country was because Nigerians are yet to decide on the constitution, which largely accounts for the fragile and slow development of the country.
-          Okeke noted at a media parley that another major issue is the review of the legislative list, to reduce the exclusive list which confers too much power, responsibilities and wealth to the centre.
