- The senate, last week passed the Federal Capital Territory
(FCT) Act (Amendment), 2016.
- One of the recommendations in the amended bill is the
increment of the number of Judiciary judges in the FCT from 37 to 75.
- The passage followed a clause by clause consideration of the
report of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.
- The increment of the number of judges is to cope with the
teeming population in the FCT and to speedily dispense justice.
