FIRE RAZES NAVY MARKET, CONSUMES SHOPS

-           About 160 shops were burnt yesterday when fire gutted the mammy market of the Nigerian Navy Town, Alakija, Ojo area of Lagos State.

-          Reportedly, goods consisting of clothing materials, groceries, foodstuffs, drinks and other household items were lost to the inferno.
-          The incident started around 3 a.m. and claimed no human life, but some traders were injured while trying to salvage their properties from the inferno.
-          Allegedly, the fire would not have escalated, but for the “inexperience” of the navy fire fighters from the Fire Ordnance Depot, who did not handle the situation properly.

                          CULLED FROM THE PUNCH
