FOREX CRISIS: FOOD, BEVERAGE SECTOR TO SACK 3M WORKERS



-           Organised Labour raised an alarm yesterday that the food, beverage and tobacco sector of the Nigeria’s economy was almost collapsing.

-          Labour alleged that over three million jobs are at risk, following the inability of companies to source foreign exchange to import raw materials for productions.
-          Reportedly, major companies in the sector, such as Guinness Plc, Friesland Campina Wamco Plc, Nigerian Flour Mills, Nigerian Bottling Company Nigerian Breweries Limited, 7-UP Bottling Company, among others, have written to Labour to discuss on retrenchment of workers.
-          At a briefing in Lagos, leaders of Food, Berage and Tobacco (FOBTOB) Senior Staff Association have called on government to intervene, to save more than three million jobs.
