Concerned about the rising cases of
unemployment, former Education Commissioner, Eunice Thomas has launched a
non-governmental organization intended to take a significant number of youths
off the streets and make them become wage earners and entrepreneurs.
-
Adressing the media last weekend, Mrs. Thomas
said the urge to contribute her quota to the Akwa Ibom dream and the
overwhelming need to affect our community positively pushed her to try a
different approach to issues while trying to effect the necessary change.
-
According to Mrs. Thomas, the NGO which will be
called the Success Squad will comprise of volunteers with a target of one
hundred thousand membership strength in different spheres of endeavours who are
young graduates of various disciplines who are brimming with ideas but whose
potentials have been somewhat stunted by the growing dearth of economic
opportunities in our society.

“This child of circumstance and of necessity was
birthed some months ago as a result of the overwhelming need to affect our
community by trying a different approach to issues and effecting the necessary
