The
Nigerian Army has stated that soldiers prosecuting the war on terror have
rescued 180 hostages, mostly women and children who were abducted by Boko Haram
for months.

While confronting the insurgents to rescue the
captives, 5 insurgents were killed in a shootout, and several dangerous
weapons/explosives were recovered.

Statement
signed by Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman said “during
the operations, they killed 5 Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 180 persons and
their cattle…”

The clearing was conducted by the Army and the Joint
Task Force (JTF) in Menari, Bulamari, Zangebe, Maafa, Mijigine, Baale and
Kaltaram villages in Mafa LGA.
