MASKED WITNESSES FOR KANU ILL-ADVISED, SAYS HURIWA



-        Human rights writers association of Nigeria (HURIWA) describes as a sham, the High Court decision to use masked witnesses by office of Federal Attorney General, Ministry of Justice.

-        HURIWA said the decision is tantamount to allowing ghost witnesses, and constitutes grave abuse of natural justice.
-         He said the accused person must be given the right to interrogate genuine witnesses to present his case, so the judicial forum can exercise her authority in a transparent and accountable manner.
-        He stated that this is enshrined in chapter four of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
