Oil giant, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited over
the weekend were given a 7 day ultimatum to pay the 2011 oil spill compensation
to Eket or face total disruptin of its activities.

The Afaha Youth Association Eket Chapter said
the ultimatum became necessary because of the suspicious undercurrent manner
the company was treating the community for the past five years.

The Association in a release signed by its
executives said the people of Eket have been patient enough and have tolerated
the arrogant and disdainful attitude of the oil giant for so long.

They also lashed the company for not explaining
clearly the reasons of the delay to the community.
