For a
second time, members of the Aga Orunto family have staged a peaceful protest to
the Ooni of Ife Palace, over the appointment of Comrade Idowu Olaniyi Adediwura
as the new Obalufe.

To register their displeasure on the choice of
the new Obalufe, protesters last Thursday besieged the Ooni’s palace, hours
before the official announcement.

Yesterday’s protesters alleged that the
candidate was imposed, and demanded a reversal of the appointment.

According to them, the Ooni made a wrong
decision not to have appointed someone from Aga Orunto family, to be his second
in command.
