INEC SAYS CONFLICTING COURT JUDGMENTS FRUSTRATE THE ELECTORAL SYSTEM

- The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, says judgments from the various divisions of the Court of Appeal are making it difficult for the commission to do its work.

- He made the comment in Abuja at a National Conference on Election Petition Tribunals and Appeals held at the Appeal Court Headquarters.

- Yakubu stated that the commission had always complied with judgments of the Courts on electoral disputes.

- He however noted that irregularities of court decisions on similar cases made the commission look incompetent.
