Plans by
an 18-man robbery gang to rob banks and bureau-DE-change operators at Seme, a
border town in Lagos, was foiled by security agents from Nigeria and Benin.

The Police angaged the hoodlums in a shootout,
which left six suspected members of the gang killed, three arrested, while
others escaped with bullet wounds.

Items recovered were: 9 speed boats, 6 loaded
magazines, 883 live ammunition, dynamites, and dangerous weapons, like house
breaking tools.

Lagos state police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni,
who visited the scene, said Police had received intelligence reports, two weeks
before the incident.
