SENATE REJECTS BILL ON GENDER EQUALITY IN MARRIAGE

-           The Nigerian senate has rejected a bill designed to grant women the same rights with their husbands.

-          The bill tagged ‘A bill seeking gender parity and prohibition of violence against women,’ was presented by Sen. Abiodun Olujimi of Ekitti State.

-          Ali Ndume, Senate leader urged Nigerians to stick to either Traditional or religious rights.

-          The Senate concluded that the said bill negates the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution.
