Fresh
facts have emerged on why the Federal Government withdrew the charges against Elder
Godson Orugbebe, a former Minister of the Niger Delta in the previous
administration.
-
Orugbebe was
arraigned before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on allegations of false
assets declaration.
-
Reportedly, withdrawing the charges was based on
legal advice from the Ministry of Justice, stating that the case constructed
and filed, was fundamentally defective.
-
The Ministry’s legal advice was that since
Orugbebe was not invited to make a statement on the allegations against him,
the process of arraignment was totally flawed.
