The ink news correspondence, reports that the
contractor handling the Eket –Ibeno road construction, China Civil Engineering
Construction Company (CCECC), had long abandoned the project.

CCECC says the Godswill Akpabio led Administration
awarded the contract, and that the company was forced to dump the job because
of huge unpaid debt.

The report said members of the community who
uses the abandoned road, are left to rue the losses they incur, varying from
money to personal effects as well as human lives.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Works has
queried the interest of the press in the facility.
