Leaders
of Mile 12 traders on Wednesday said they had the assurance of the Lagos State
Govt. that the shut Mile 12 Market would be reopened shortly.
- -
They
also said they had agreed with the government to relocate the market from the
area to another suitable location, adding that the Mile 12 area was no longer
big enough for them.
- -
They
said the market had outgrown its present location and infrastructure.
- -
The
leaders, who spoke at a press conference in Alausa, Ikeja, stated that they
also consented to a ban on the use of commercial motorcycles, popularly known
as okada, for commercial transport
because of the riders’ disobedience to traffic laws and frequent road accidents
in the area.
CULLED FROM THE PUNCH.
