The Senate Committee on Communications
yesterday, investigated the N50 billion part payment of MTN, out of the imposed
N780billion fine by the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC).

The N50billion payment was consequent on an
out-of-court settlement agreed with the federal Govt.

The committee, worried by the proposal initiated
by MTN for the reduction of the fine to N300billion had been accepted by the
Minister of Justice and A. G of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.

In five equal and annual installments, between
the dates of this agreement, MTN is expected to pay a total of N100billion by
electronic transfer to the federal govt. recovery account at CBN.
