The Nigerian Communications Commission has
called on the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to check the
abuse of the social media as well as implementation of the Cybercrime Law.

The Executive Vice Chairman, NCC, Prof. Umar
Danbatta, made the call when he visited the ICPC Chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta, with
the management team of the telecommunications regulatory agency in Abuja on
Wednesday.

Danbatta said the social media give the users
unfettered access to information dissemination and therefore must be used
responsibly.

He solicited for the cooperation of the ICPC in
the full implementation of the Cybercrime Bill which was signed into law in
2015.
