- An Appeal Court in Niger yesterday rejected a demand for the
release of jailed presidential candidate Hama Amadou.
- The 66-year-old was jailed in November of 2015 for shadowy
baby-trafficking.
- Amadou campaigned from prison for presidency and won 18
percent of vote cast coming second to incumbent Mohamado Issoufou who clinched
48 percent.
- According to his counsel, Souley Oumarou; Amadou’s release
will allow him campaign fairly for votes in the run-off elections.
