NIGERIA RECORDS 5.2% FALL IN COCOA PRODUCTION

      -          Nigeria cocoa production has dropped by 5.2 percent from 248,000 metric tons in 2013/2014 planting season to 235,000 metric tons in 2015 season.

-          This led to the distribution of increased seedlings by the Federal Government, with the target of making Nigeria the largest cocoa producing nation in Africa.
-          The National Vice President of Cocoa Association of Nigeria, Cross River State and Akwa Ibom State chapter, Mr. Godwin Ukwu said decline could be attributed to years of aging on tree
 - A consultant and Chief Operating Officer, Centre for Cocoa Development Initiative, Mr. Robo Adhuze said the union hopes that increase in rainfall will boost cocoa production.
