- The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet),
has advised farmers and agriculturists in Nigeria to supplement the expected
water stress with irrigation, to enhance crop production.
- NiMet gave the advice in its 2016 Seasonal
Rainfall Prediction (SRP) to the public in Abuja on Thursday.
- According to the prediction, farmers and
agriculturists need to be aware of these 2016 reports, and should supplement
with irrigation to enhance crop yield.
- He advised Govt. to encourage development
of ranches, adding that fodder production and grazing areas should be clearly
mapped out to reduce tension between herdsmen and farmers.
