The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC) towers in Abuja was shut down yesterday by protesting workers.
- -
The workers under the Petroleum and Natural Gas
Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum
and Natural Gas workers (NUPENG) were at the gates leading to the NNPC Towers
as early as 6.30am to prevent entry into the place.
-
- The protest comes barely 24 hours after the
Federal Government allegedly unbundled NNPC into seven units and 30 companies
with Chief Executive Officers.
- -
According to them the protest was against what
they considered the unilateral decision of the Minister of State for Petroleum
to unbundle the NNPC without carrying them along.
CULLED FROM DAILYSUN.
