-
- The Federal Government has assured that there
are no plans to import food to implement its school feeding programme.
-
- Vice President,
Yemi Osinbajo, gave the assurance yesterday when he received a delegation of
the World Food Programme in his office at the presidential villa, led by its
Executive Director, Ms. Ertharin Cousin.
-
- Osinbajo said the Home-Grown feeding, through
which primary school pupils will receive one full meal per day, will “energise
the agriculture base in the states, so that the farmers can benefit”.
-
- Ruling out importation of foodstuff, he noted that
the programme will also create jobs, not only for farmers, but caterers and the
entire value-chain would be beneficial to the local communities.
