POLICE CHIEFS IN SOUP OVER MINOR FORCED INTO MARRIAGE

-           The Sun newspaper first reported the story of Ese Oruru in December last year when she was abducted from Bayelsa and taken to Kano where she was forcefully converted to Islam and taken in marriage.

-          The rescued teenager who has arrived Abuja in the company of her handcuffed husband, is to be handed over to her parents.

-          The girl’s father, Mr. Charles Oruru has insisted that justice must prevail in the matter.

-          Some senior police officers may be sanctioned for alleged negligence or dereliction of duty in the abduction of the teenager.
