The
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said it has invested
about $700 million in combating HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.

Mr. Michael Harvey, DG of the organization made
this disclosure on Wednesday, while on a courtesy visit to the Minister of
Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udo Udoma.

Harvey added that USAID would support Nigeria in
its plan to ensure the production of HIV/Aids drugs in Nigeria.

Harvey also enjoined the Nigerian government to
increase its counterpart funding, to address the health challenges in the
country.
