WAR VETERANS DEMAND COMPENSATION

-          Soldiers who fought in the Nigerian Civil War have passionately appealed to President Buhari for the payment of N4.48 trillion as compensation and rehabilitation.

-          The soldiers under the aegis of war veterans recalled the past administration had in 2011 pledged to pay the entitlement through their leader, late General Abinyo Oko-Jumbo, but regrettably, the government did not redeem that promise.

-          The group further recalled a request by the then Federal Government to late General Jumbo (Rtd) to compile a comprehensive list of veteran for payment and was submitted to Senator Uche Chukwumerije in 2013, but this also did not yield the desired result.

-          Finally, the group appealled to President Buhari as a disciplined and God fearing leader to kindly approve the payment of the entitlement that would bring hope to the affected veteran who had lost their sources of livelihood.
