- The Federal Ministry of Environment has
ordered the stoppage of work on the proposed Cross River Superhighway.
- The stoppage is to allow a full scale
environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to be carried out on the project.
- The EIA came as a result of protest by the
people of Ekuri, that the proposed project will destroy the habitat of
endangered species of wildlife.
- The Cross River superhighway was to link
Calabar, Okwotung Obudu and Yara.
