TEXTILE MANUFACTURERS OPEN UP ON SUPPORTING BT COTTON IN NIGERIA



-           Members of Nigerian Textile Manufacturers Association have supported the application of Monsanto agriculture.

-          They made the support before the National Bio-safety Management Agency for consideration of Environmental release and placing in the market of genetically modified insect-protected (BT) cotton in Nigeria.
-          According to the body, Genetically Modified insect protected cotton can play an immense role in restoring attraction to cotton farming.
-          Acting-Director General of the association, Hamma Kwajafa said lack of confidence by participants of cotton chain have restrained the needed investment.
