The General Secretary of the Christian
Association of Nigeria, Rev. Musa Asake, has revealed that the process to elect
the successor to the two-term President of the association, Pastor Ayo
Oritsejafor, will begin today.

Oritsejafor had reportedly been seeking
a third term as the CAN president contrary to the constitution of the association,
which allows for a maximum of two terms of three years each.

Asake refuted the reports in a
telephone interview with THE PUNCH correspondent on Tuesday, saying that the
constitution of CAN allowed for only two terms of three years each and “nothing
is changing”.

He revealed that the Association had
released a timetable for the election, interested candidates are advised to
forward their applications to their blocs, and the blocs should bring them to
the general secretary’s office.
