LAGOS TO BEGIN PROSECUTION OF TAX DEFAULTERS

-           The Lagos state Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) says it will start to prosecute tax evaders and offenders in Lagos from April.

-          Monsurat Amasa, Head, Corporate Affairs LIRS says the tax Act provides that a taxable person should file a return of income for every preceding year.

-          According to him, taxable persons or corporate organizations that don’t file their tax returns with LIRS within time, breach the provisions of the law, which is a punishable criminal offense.

-          He noted that payment of tax facilitates the progress of the society as a civilized community.
