A’IBOM NULGE BEGINS STRIKE OVER UNPAID SALARIES





-          The National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, A’Ibom State chapter on Friday, embarked on a strike action over unpaid salaries and allowances owed council workers in the state.

-          The union decried the plight of workers in the Unified Local Govt. Service which it said was in contrast with their counterparts in the state.
-          A statement by the state President of NULGE, Mr. Martins Effiong, hints that workers in the Unified Local Govt. Service were yet to be paid their promotion arrears from 2006 till date.
-          He added that A’Ibom Govt. still owe the workers arrears of leave grant in three local Govt. in 2012, and 20 councils in 2013 while the figure was 31 councils in 2015.
