Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam has urged the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) to
conduct research on the phenomenon of Boko Haram insurgency to prevent future
occurrences.

Governor Gaidam gave the challenge while
receiving members of a fund raising committee for the University, who visited
him in Damaturu.

Announcing a donation of N30 million donations
to the university, Gaidam stressed that the institution should mount academic
programmes to prevent violent extremism.

While challenging Islamic Scholars to face the “misguided
and misleading representation of Islam, Gaidam urged the school to expand their
research to cover projects that would reduce human crisis.
