BAYELSA COMMUNITY SEEKS POTABLE WATER FROM OIL COMPANIES



-           Coastal communities along Ogboinbiri River in Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa state have tasked oil firms in the area to provide them with portable water.

-          Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) in Keme Ebiana, one of the affected communities, Chief Columbus John-Bull made the call in an interview with newsmen on Sunday.
-          According to John-Bull, an oil leak occurred recently in the area, polluting the Ogboinbiri River which was the source of water to Keme Ebiama, Apoi, Kokologbene, Gbaruan, Ukubie and Lobia communities.
-          He stated that the communities depended on the river for drinking and domestic use, and the people could no longer access water from the river following the pollution.
