OWIE WARNS BUHARI NOT TO ALTER ANY LINE OF 2016 BUDGET

-          Former Senate Whip, Senator Roland Owie has reacted to President Buhari’s position that he will not append the 2016 budget passed by the National Assembly (NASS) into law, stating that failure to sign the bill implies starting a new budget presentation.

-          The Senator said President Buhari lacks the right to tamper with the approved budget submitted by the NASS, adding that refusing to sign it or make any alteration would draw Nigeria backward.
-          He disclosed this to newsmen and implored the President to listen to the Minister of Budget and Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma and Buhari’s SA on NASS matters, Senator Ita Enang who both have experience in Legislative matters.
-          He tasked Buhari to sign and implement the approved budget, the send amendments to the NASS on grey areas, noting that only the NASS and State Assemblies are legally permitted to reintroduce new items into the appropriation bill.
