GOV. UDOM DID NOT IMPOSE ME ON URUAN, NEW MONARCH INSISTS

-     -     The Paramount Ruler of Uruan LGA, Edidem Nicholas Ukpong, says his recent accession to the traditional stool of Uruan came as a result of the ill health of the current monarch, Edidem Effiong Bassey Ekanem, and not an imposition by Gov. Udom as speculated by a local newspaper, Radar.

-     -      Edidem Ukpong made this known, Monday, at his palace in Nung Oku Uruan while interacting with journalists on the issues surrounding his emergence as the rightful  King to hold the throne while Edidem Ekanem is away on medical treatment.
-   -       A Govt. white paper signed by the secretary, state council of chiefs, Samuel Essien for the honourable commissioner and dated 22 February, 2016, states that Edidem Ukpong is to represent Edidem EBA Ekanem in “all matters relating to the office of the paramount except attending council of chiefs meeting, pending his recovery and return to the state.
-    -      Edidem Ukpong said he had earlier signed an agreement with two other traditional rulers which included Edidem Ekanem on matters of succession at the end of a six-year legal battle for the headship of the ancient throne in 2006.
