CJN ORDERS DAY-TO-DAY TRIAL OF CORRUPTION CASES



-           To fast track the trial of alleged treasury looters, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mahmud Mohammed has directed Judges handling corruption cases to hear the matter on day-to-day basis.

-          Justice Mahmud revealed that the National Judicial Council (NJC), will henceforth punish any trial judge found to have stayed proceedings on criminal matters before the court.
-          The CJN made the declaration while flagging off the 2016 Refresher Course for Judicial officers on current trends in law and administration of Justice.
-          Justice Mahmud said the measure was necessitated by the recent mounting criticism against the Judiciary.
